Application for a virtual 360° video visit of the city of Paris
Samsung Gear VR
Paris by VR is an application to visit, in a virtual way, the most important monuments of Paris, thanks to the use of 360° videos. The app uses Samsung Gear VR virtual reality glasses (the only ones existing at the time as the app was created in late 2015, early 2016). It was also implemented for iOS/Android smartphones and used cardboards for its use.
The app was part of the tourism offering of our client, History Group. After enjoying the incredible panorama on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, tourists go to the 1st floor to activate their virtual reality headset, provided by History Group. Thus, through a fun and intuitive navigation, they will be able to teleport and discover a selection of the most beautiful Parisian monuments such as the Sacré-Coeur, the Opéra Garnier, Trocadero, etc.
Objective of the project
The purpose of the application is two-fold. On the one hand, it increases the offer of our client History Group by offering a very high quality and innovative product, and on the other hand, it serves to avoid the time spent by their customers on the second floor and thus avoid stagnancy on the latter.
This will increase the visitor traffic on the first floor, which is unfortunately somewhat neglected by visitors.
Our job : Virtual Reality Application
Paris by VR is an application that was commissioned by our client History Group and was coordinated by Ronny Asseraf. History Group produced all the 360° videos available in the application. We were responsible for optimising the videos for the VR headset, and for the entire implementation of the application.
Given the date when we made the application (2015), Paris by VR was a pioneer in its genre.
